National Donut Day – Friday, June 7th
Every year, we celebrate National Donut Day on the first Friday in the month of June.
The first Donut Day started as a way to cheer up soldiers who were risking their lives during war. Donut Day became a way to raise awareness about the war and to raise funds for Salvation Army’s activities on the battlefield.
The Salvation Army Lassies were the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during the first World War.
There is still a tradition of serving donuts to raise funds for the organization in many parts of the United States.
National Dairy Month
I love National Dairy Month simply because of my love of ice cream. Watch for all kinds of ice cream sales this month.
Also, be on the look out for other dairy products, such as milk, cheese, and yogurt.
National Headache Month
Did you know there was such a thing as National Headache Month?
People like me who suffer from almost non-stop headaches appreciate this because it comes with all kinds of sales on headache medicine.
Also, watch for free information on how to naturally treat headaches. One of my favorite ways is by picking fresh herbs out of my own garden and throwing them into a cup of tea.

I love the month of June because so much fresh produce is starting to show up in the North Country!

There is always a lot of excitement when Sweet Bing cherries, Rainier cherries, rhubarb, and strawberries show up this month.
Asparagus, morel mushrooms, and sweet peas are some of our favorites this month. Lettuces, Swiss chard, radishes, and green onions are also available.
