As a homeschooling mother of 12, I know that a little extra motivation can make reading even more exciting for children. The Pizza Hut BOOK IT!® Program combines reading goals with a reward kids love—a free Personal Pan Pizza®!
The free program is available to children in Pre-K through sixth grade, including homeschool students. Here is what families and teachers need to know about the 2026–27 BOOK IT! season.
What Is the Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Program?
BOOK IT! is a free reading-incentive program created by Pizza Hut to encourage children to develop consistent reading habits.
Teachers and parents set appropriate reading goals for each child. When a student meets the goal, the child can earn a digital Reading Award Certificate® redeemable for a free one-topping Personal Pan Pizza® at a participating Pizza Hut location.
The school-year program runs from October 1 through March 31.
Who Can Participate in BOOK IT!?
The BOOK IT! Program is designed for children in:
- Pre-K
- Kindergarten
- First through sixth grade
Children can participate through:
- Participating public or private school classrooms
- Homeschool programs
- The separate Summer of Stories™ program during June, July, and August
The school-year program is completely free for participating students and families.
BOOK IT! for Homeschool Families
Homeschool students can participate too!
Parents can use the official BOOK IT! mobile app to set reading goals, track their children’s progress, and redeem earned rewards.
This flexibility makes it easy to choose goals that fit each child’s age, reading ability, and homeschool routine.
Families may enroll up to five eligible children. Each participating child can earn one reward per eligible month after meeting the assigned reading goal.
BOOK IT! for Classroom Teachers
Teachers at accredited public and private schools can enroll eligible Pre-K through sixth-grade classrooms.
Teachers choose appropriate reading goals, track student progress, and issue digital Reading Award Certificates to students who meet their monthly goals.
Open enrollment for the 2026–27 school year begins September 1, 2026.

How the BOOK IT! Program Works
1. Enroll in the Program
Classroom teachers can enroll their eligible classrooms. Homeschool parents can register and manage their children through the BOOK IT! app.
2. Set a Reading Goal
Choose a monthly or daily reading goal that is challenging but realistic for your child.
A younger child’s goal may involve being read to each day, while an independent reader may track minutes, pages, or books completed.
3. Track Reading Progress
Use the BOOK IT! app, an official reading log, or the tracking method provided by your child’s teacher.
4. Celebrate Meeting the Goal
When the child meets the reading goal, the teacher or homeschool parent can issue or claim the eligible reward.
5. Redeem the Pizza Reward
The earned digital certificate or code can be redeemed for a free one-topping Personal Pan Pizza® at a participating Pizza Hut location.
Program rules and redemption instructions can change, so always review the current information and expiration date included with the reward.
