How to Make Your Own Frozen Broccoli, Cauliflower, and Carrot Mix
I love to grab a bag of frozen veggies out of the freezer and saute them in butter and garlic for a quick lunch.
I like to make up my own little baggies of frozen veggies.
Have you tried making your own frozen broccoli, cauliflower, and carrot mix?
Step One: Cut the Veggies
Step one is easy.
Chop the veggies into bite-size pieces.
This is really a preference thing.
Make them any size you prefer.
Step Two: Blanch the Veggies
Step two – Blanch the vegetables by dropping them into boiling water for one minute, draining, then immediately dropping them into ice water to stop the cooking process.
Step Three: Drain and Dry Veggies Well
Step three – Drain and dry the vegetables well.
I place them onto a towel to allow them time to dry thoroughly.
Step Four - Package the Veggies
Step four – Package the veggies in any amount you prefer.
I just take a few handfuls of each vegetable and add them to a pint-size freezer bag.
Step Five - Label and Store in the Freezer
Step five – Label each bag with the name of the items in the bag, plus the date they were processed.
Finally, store them in the freezer until you are ready to use them.
