Woody's Market

This Month’s Featured Local Small Business is Woody’s Market in Hermon, New York

Living in a small town has its benefits and having a small-town family-owned store like, Woody’s Market in Hermon, New York is definitely one of those big benefits.

Mr. Jim Woodrow opened the doors to Woody’s Market for the first time on February 4, 1997.

Woody’s Market is Family-Oriented Business

Woody’s Market has always been a very family-oriented business.

At the age of 24, Tracey Petrie, the current owner, managed her father’s store from day one.

In 2006, she became a co-owner with her dad.

After seven years of partnership, Tracey bought out her father and became the full owner of Woody’s Market.

Even after becoming the full owner, Tracey kept Woody’s a family-oriented business.

Over the years, it was never uncommon to see her dad in the store.

Her son, Patrick, can be seen at the store filling propane tanks, or doing whatever needs to be done.

Woody’s Market is a Community-Focused Business

One of my favorite things about Tracey is not only her focus on family but her love of community.

Tracey is always first in line to help whenever there is a need. She is more than willing to keep her store open 14+ hours out of the day to make sure the community has whatever they need.

I have seen her keep her store open during weather conditions that would scare off most people, but she wanted to be available to both emergency workers and her community of friends & family.

Tracey never hesitates when asked for a donation.

She is super easy to get along with and will work with her customers to fix any problem or help them out.

Tracey does ask that if you ever do have any issues with either her employees or her, that you would kindly contact her first to try and resolve any issues.

Fuel at Woody’s Market

Like any good, small-town store, Woody’s Market offers fuel.

There is unleaded, non-Ethanol gasoline available at six different pumps. Although they don’t offer pay-at-pump yet, Tracey is hoping to offer it in the near future.

Cash-paying customers do get a discount.

Diesel fuel and kerosene are also available.

Need propane?

Woody’s Market has that too!

You can choose between having your tanks refilled, or simply doing an exchange.

Please, be aware that New York State has very strict rules when it comes to the sale of propane. Woody’s Market has three certified people to do propane refills. One of them would need to be available to do the refill. If they aren’t there at the time you are trying to get a refill, just ask an employee when they will be available, or perhaps you could just do an exchange.

Hot and Cold Food are Both Offered at Woody’s Market

Hungry?

Woody’s has you covered!

There is a full deli available.

Subs are freshly made to order.

Pizzas along with a variety of sandwiches can be made to order, or you can grab it by the slice out of the warming oven.

There is also a good variety of fried foods that can be quickly made to order.

Every day comes with a new lunch special, hot soups, and delicious chili.

Over 85% of everything available is made from scratch.

Although Tracey doesn’t consider her store a restaurant, there is a dine-in area where you can eat.

Woody’s Market is also happy to offer meat platters, dessert platters, and sandwich & sub platters.

Don’t feel like cooking?

Tracey has even been known to prepare bulk meals for people, like goulash, lasagna or mac’ and cheese!

And, of course, as anyone in the community knows, Tracey’s dad, Jim Woodrow, has been a large supplier of fresh maple syrup in our area. You can pick your local, fresh maple syrup up right at Woody’s Market.

There are menus available in-store.

Woody’s Market Gift Cards

Woody’s Market offers gift cards. Any amount that is requested can be put onto one.

These make great gifts, especially for local friends and family who love to frequent Woody’s for their coffee and lunch specials.
