A new month always equals new deals. October is no different.
As Strategic Shoppers, we are always looking for the best deals on everything we plan on purchasing. One of the largest keys to Strategic Shopping is knowing when to buy.
Here are some of the best things to buy in October 2022.
Air Conditioners
We don’t have a very long hot season, but I am so glad that I have an air conditioner during that time.
Remember how you were too hot over this past summer and swore that next year you were going to get an air conditioner?
Well, don’t wait!
Remember, a major part of Strategic Shopping is knowing when to buy things, especially typically large ticket items, like air conditioners.
October is one of the best months to get a deal on an air conditioner for next year.
Stores are anxious to move out all of the summertime items in order to make room for the cooler weather items.

Barbecue Grills
My family spends a lot of the spring, summer, and even fall grilling out.
Truthfully, we have been known to stand knee-deep in the snow just to grill something on the barbecue grill!

BBQ grills will be marked down in October.
Again, don’t wait until next year.

Camping Gear
Do you like to go camping? My children love camping!
Me on the other hand, well let’s just say I love my bed and being close to an actual bathroom.
I do, however, love the camping section in the stores.
Everyone should have some kind of camping gear on hand.
Camping gear makes great prepping items. We live in an area that gets really cold and it’s not uncommon for our power to go out, so I like to head to the camping gear to make sure they stock up on things that could help us out during emergencies.
October is a great month to stock up on camping gear.

Yard and Garden
Whether you want to build a beautiful garden or just a lovely lawn, you will find super deals to buy in October.
My motto is to grow food, not grass. I love my gardens!
That’s why I really love the end-of-gardening season sales.
You may or may not find seeds this late in the game, and many plants look a little worse for wear, but there are still many great deals to be found.
The stores are ready to clear out everything that has to do with yards and gardens.
Watch for markdowns clearance prices on tomato cages, pots, potting soil, soil amendments, and even large bags of Epsom Salts!
The garden section sells large bags of Epsom Salts as a soil amendment. You will not find clearance Epsom Salts in the regular medicine section of your store. Look for these deals right in the gardening section.
Fans
Do you sleep with a fan on at night?
Everyone in my family loves to use fans.
I’m always watching for those October fan deals!
Jeans
Past years have always brought amazing sales and deals on everything denim in October.
You will see stores starting to put anything denim, including jeans, in the month.
Watch for denim jeans to go on sale.
Lawn mowers
Waiting until you need to buy something usually ends up costing a lot of money.
That is why you should buy a lawn mower in October if you already know you are going to need one in the spring.
Learn the difference between paying full-price, a good sale, and rock-bottom prices.
As Strategic Shoppers, we are always looking for those rock-bottom prices.
Buying at the end of a season, rather than at the beginning, or in the midst of a season usually brings those rock-bottom prices we are all looking to pay.

I love to see all of the brand-new, colorful outdoor furniture go on display every spring.
I don’t, however, like the price tags that are attached to them!
Make sure you shop all of the clearance deals on outdoor furniture this month.
October is one of the best times of year to get a deal on outdoor furniture.
Prime Days
Amazon has announced more Prime Days this October, so be ready for the deals!
Get ready for Prime Days on October 11th and October 12th.
October 4th – National Taco Day
My family is always excited when Mama says it’s Taco Night, but did you know that there’s an actual National Taco Day?
Check with your favorite local Mexican food restaurants to see if they are offering any deals for National Taco Day.
October 22nd – National Nut Day
Did you know National Nut Day was even a thing?
Watch your local grocery stores to see if they will be running a sale on or around October 22nd to celebrate National Nut Day.
Stock up on all of those deals for your holiday cooking.
National Pizza Month
These national celebration days and months tend to get a little confusing at times.
National Pizza Day was celebrated back in February.
October, however, gives us National Pizza Month.
What a wonderful thing to celebrate!
Give me a pizza along with a tossed salad and I am one happy girl!
