NIrV Adventure Bible for Early Readers from Zondervan
a TOS Crew Review
Thank you to both Zondervan and the TOS Review Crew for giving us this opportunity to review the NIrV Adventure Bible for Early Readers.
NIrV Version Bible
NIrV Adventure Bible for Early Readers is a fun and exciting way to get your early readers excited about Bible reading.
It is based on the NIV version but has been put into easy words and short sentences.
The NIrV was created as a stepping stone to the NIV version.
The NIrV Adventure Bible for Early Readers would not only work perfectly for young children just learning how to read but it would also be a great resource for adults who are learning to read, just learning English, or are just getting acquainted with the Bible.
Accept my words. Store up my commands inside you . . . Look for [wisdom] as you would look for silver. Search for it as you would for hidden treasure. Then you will understand how to have respect for the Lord. You will find out how to find God. Proverbs 2:1-5
Reading the NIrV Version
Sarah sat down to read the Bible to me one night. She decided to start out with Genesis Chapter One.
She read, in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The Earth didn’t have any shape. And it was empty.
She stopped there, looked at me funny, and said, that’s not what it’s supposed to say!
I said, what do you mean?
She said it’s supposed to say, God created the heavens and the Earth and the Earth was without form and void
I explained to her that without form and without shape meant the same thing and empty and void also meant the same thing
I told her that this Bible version was written to make it easier to read and to understand but it used words that meant exactly what the word she was used to reading meant.
She was happy with that explanation and enjoyed reading this version of the Bible.
NIrV Adventure Bible for Early Readers Format
This book starts out with a few pages explaining how to use this Bible.
These pages reminded me of a textbook. It gives complete detail on where everything is located and the proper names of things.
It shows the reader where the book name is located, where the page number is located, which number represents the chapter, which number represents the verse, and where the section head is located.
It also explains exactly what you would use the table of contents for, where the dictionary is located and what you would use that for, and explains how you would look up books chapters and verses.

Next, there are a few pages explaining the New international version Bible and the new international reader’s version bible.
There is a page in front of each book of the Bible with some questions for the reader to ponder as they go through the book.
These questions include things like
Who wrote this book?
What happens in this book?
Why was this book written?
What do we learn about God in this book?
Who is important in this book?
When did this happen?
Where did this happen?
What are some of the stories in this book?
I think these are vital questions to help the reader start thinking and considering things as they are about to read each book of the bible.
This helps us to fulfill the command of God to study to show thyself approved instead of just reading for the sake of reading.
Grandchildren are like a crown to older people. Proverbs 17:6
