Trive - The Family Game That's More Than a Game

a TOS Crew Review

I would like to thank the TOS Review Crew for the opportunity to do a review on the GOZIMUS Enterprises, LLC game of TRIVE.

Trive - A group of friends or family members discovering, sharing, achieving, and celebrating true personal goals through live, face-to-face conversations.

My family is always setting new personal goals. We love to come up with fun ways to help us reach each one of those goals.

TRIVE fit perfectly into helping us set up systems to reach our goals.

Read the Instruction

Trive suggests that you read the instructions completely before beginning the game and I can’t stress how important it is to do this.

Just looking at the contents included in the game box is not enough to figure out how to get started.

Take a few moments to read all the instructions.

Contents of the Game

Contents included in the game:

  • TRIVE Instruction Booklet
  • 100 Quotables Cards
  • 50 Goals Cards
  • 50 Review Cards
  • 6 TRIVE Pencils
  • TRIVE Leader Notebook
  • TRIVE Guide

The Process of Playing Trive

Here is the process of playing Trive in a nutshell:

  1. Gather your crew. Get everyone together to discuss personal goals and select coaches.
  2. Each member fills out a  Goal Cards by using a word or picture to describe their goal.
  3. Everyone writes out three separate goals on three separate goal cards.
  4. All Goal Cards are then placed face down on the table and shuffled.
  5. The youngest Trive player draws from the Quotables Cards and reads the question out loud.
  6. The person on the left tries to answer the question.
  7. If the question was not answered correctly, then continue to the next person.
  8. The person who answers correctly receives the Quotables Card, and points, then draws a Goals Card to read aloud.
  9. Everyone in the Trive tries to guess who wrote that goal.
  10. Once the person who wrote that goal is revealed, they describe what their goal entails, why they chose that particular goal, and what it means to them.
  11. The Trive member who receives the highest Quotable Card points gets to choose who they would like to have as a coach.
  12. The Coaches spend the next 6-months encouraging and helping their particular member to accomplish their goals.

How Our Family Used Trive

A couple of my adult daughters, my girls still living at home, and even some of my grandchildren gathered together to play the game of TRIVE.

TRIVE starts out with the members gathering together for a group session.

Everyone talks about their goals. These can be short-term or long-term goals.

Each one of us, adults and children, took turns talking about some of our goals.

The game gave us 6-months to come alongside each other and encourage one another to reach each goal.

We haven’t yet played it out for six months, but we have encouraged each other in reaching some of the simpler short-term goals.

It was heartwarming to hear everyone’s goals in life.

During our initial meeting we poured out our hearts, set goals, wrote things out, and made plans of action.

Later, we met again and accomplished some of those goals.

Nursing Home Donations

Some of Our Goals

We decided to focus these goals on ways we could be a blessing to others.

One of our goals was to buy slipper socks for the local nursing home residents.

We gathered up the kids and set them loose in Walmart.

They each bought a bunch of slipper socks, then we delivered them to the nursing home.

Renewal House Donations

Another fun goal was to put together little care packages for the Renewal House.

This time, we hit up Dollar Tree and bought everything needed to create these fun little packages.

Food Pantry Donations

More Giving Goals:

Other goals included things like donating everything to make birthday cake packages to the local food bank, creating care packages for the local mental health program, and handing out hand-written cards to people just to make them feel good.

The kids came up with these and many other goals that focused on helping others.

Setting Goals

Highly Recommended

The game of TRIVE  fit really well into our homeschool and family life.

My family loves to set goals, then do things to help us reach those goals, like having family meetings, making vision boards, and now, playing TRIVE.

Does your family enjoy setting and reaching personal goals?

Would you like a fun way to help your family get in the habit of not only setting goals, but actually reaching those goals?

If yes, then we recommend checking out the game of TRIVE.
