20 Things to Buy in November

20 Things to Buy in November 2020

Becoming a Strategic Shopper absolutely must include knowing when to shop! Timing truly is everything.

National Sandwich Day

There seems to be a National Day for practically everything under the sun these days. Whether or not you love the National Days, or you think they are silly, make sure you watch for deals associated with them.

Check your local sandwich shops to see if they are offering a promo in celebration of National Sandwich Day!

Thanksgiving Turkeys

I love to fill my freezer to the brim with Thanksgiving turkeys every November.

I try to buy enough turkeys in order to cook one every month of the year.

Is there any other time of year that you can buy meat at such a low price?

Turkey makes a great meal anytime of year, so why wait for a holiday to serve it?

This month also brings rock-bottom prices on your typical Thanksgiving dinner groceries, like canned pumpkin, canned cranberry sauce, green bean casserole ingredients, stuffing mixes, gravy mixes, etc.

Baking Supplies

This is my absolutely favorite deal of the year. Baking supplies will be on sale practically everywhere you look.

November is the time to stock up the pantry with all of these baking supplies.

Watch for sales on flour, sugar, baking chips, and even eggs and butter!

Cookware Sets/Bake-ware/Cutlery

Of course, you have to have a way to cook all of those groceries that are on sale this month, so we will also see all kinds of cookware sets, bakeware, and even cutlery deals.

Major Appliances

The new models have been rolling in since September and the stores are anxious to get rid of the old models.

November is a great time to buy that new refrigerator or washing machine you have been putting off purchasing.

Wedding Supplies

Wedding supplies are still being marked down during the month of November.

Since the cold-weather months are not the most popular for weddings, the wedding supply shops are trying to drum up business by offering discounts.

Planning a wedding next year? Don’t wait! Take advantage of the deals now.

New Car

The new cars are rolling into the dealerships, so now is the time to score a discount on older models.

Halloween Clearance – candy costumes

My kids grew up loving November 1st because that always marked the beginning of candy sales.

All of that Halloween candy starts going on clearance prices starting the day after Halloween.

Typically, we will see 50% off both candy and costumes. Both of these make great Christmas gifts!

Tools

Tools definitely made it on my 20 Things to Buy in November 2020 list. I really love to shop for tools at Harbor Freight. I am putting together a little toolbox for each one of my grandsons this year, and Harbor Freight is one of the top stores I will be buying their tools from.

Small Appliances – mixers, coffee makers, etc.

As November comes around, watch for all kinds of deals on those small appliances too.

The stores know that we are likely to want some new small appliances just in time for the holiday season.

Holidays bring cooking, baking, and a lot of gatherings. Everyone needs some kind of new appliance, and the stores know this.

Take advantage of the mark-downs.

Televisions

I have already seen the televisions being marked down to crazy prices.

Keep your eye out for more amazing television prices in November 2020!

Laptops/Computers

November 2020 is the perfect time to grab a new laptop or desktop computer.

Electronics

Most Americans already know if it is electronical, then there will be some wild deals running in the month of November!

Think Christmas!

Movies

I have always loved to give each one of my twelve children their own movie at Christmas time.

The month of November makes it easy to give movies as gifts!

Make sure you check your local stores for movies this month.

Don’t forget to check the Dollar Tree for movies!

Black Friday Deals

Black Friday has become synonymous with America’s Thanksgiving, but they really have nothing to do with each other.

Actually, I have never been a big fan of Black Friday. I think it is shameful to be thankful on one day, then clobbering someone over the head for an Elmo doll then next.

I know that many of my readers love Black Friday though.

Black Friday was started as a way to bring stores out of the debt they had been in all year.

The color red is associated with debt. The color red means the business is out of debt, and making a profit.

The Friday after America’s Thanksgiving Day was chosen as a deep discounted sale day to help businesses get out of the red and into the black.

Hence, the name – Black Friday.

With all of that said, you don’t have to beat down the crowds to get the best deals anymore.

I personally get Black Friday type deals all year long through Strategic Shopping!

Still, you will find some amazing deals during the Black Friday deals, both online and in store, this November.

Most stores don’t just dedicate the Friday after Thanksgiving to hold their Black Friday sales anymore.

Even still, the name has stuck, so watch throughout the month of November to get all of those Black Friday deals!

Small Business Saturday

On the contrary, I absolutely love the idea of Small Business Saturday. What a great way to really get out there and show support to your favorite small business.

Small businesses need our support more than ever today too thanks to the Corona!

Sadly, I have seen and heard of way too many small businesses being forced to close their doors forever due to the pandemic.

Do you have a small business? Do you have a small business that you love to support?

Leave a comment with the link to a small business you own, or love to support.

I want to send a shout-out to one of my favorite businesses – 5 B’s Photography!

My oldest daughter, Jaimie, runs this business. She does absolutely amazing work!

Here is a little sample of her work:

Local friends, sign up for a photo shoot with Jaimie by visiting her Facebook page, 5 B’s Photography.

Bonus: She offers gift certificates!

Cyber Monday

Cyber Monday is similar to Black Friday, but you get to do it all from the comfort of your own home.

New Year’s Flights

Thinking ahead and being prepared is key to saving big when it comes to airline flights.

November is the perfect time to get a great deal on New Year’s flights!

Summer Clothing and Swimwear

Becoming a Strategic Shopper means knowing when to shop. Remember, there is a time and a place for everything. The time to buy summer wear is not during the summer.

Learn to buy out-of-season for clothing you will need the following year. This can save you up to 90% on your family’s apparel!

Seasonal Produce

It is best for both your health and your wallet if you get into the habit of eating produce that is in season.

Here is a list of seasonal produce to purchase in the month of November:

Beets

Broccoli

Brussels sprouts

Cabbage

Cauliflower

Fresh cranberries

Leeks

Mushrooms

Parsnips

Pumpkins

Rutabagas

Spinach

Sweet potatoes

Turnips

Winter squash

Oranges

Pears

Persimmons

Pomegranates

Tangerines

Cranberries – My Favorite November Produce

My favorite November produce find is always fresh cranberries. I always throw multiple bags of these fresh berries straight into the freezer. I pull them out in December for my children and grandchildren to string popcorn and cranberry garland to put onto our Christmas tree.

Later on, in the middle of the cold winter, I pull bags out and make fresh cranberry sauce. We eat a lot of it, and can up the rest. Delicious!

Candy had been a good shopper for years. With 12 children, it didn’t take her long to realize that if she wasn’t a smart shopper, she wouldn’t make it very far! She wanted to continue to be a stay-at-home mother, but she wondered if this was going to be possible. Then, she found out about coupons. Coupons have literally changed her life!
