A New You in the 2023 New Year

If you spend any amount of time on social media during the beginning of January, you will realize there are two kinds of people.

There are those who hate to hear about the New Year–New Me type people.

They don’t want to hear about your New Year’s resolutions or your goals and steps to reach those goals.

Then there are the New Year-New Me type of people.

I love to set goals, make lists, and write out plans of action, so I am definitely in the latter group.

I love the feeling of a fresh start that the turn of a new year brings with it.

New Year’s Day, the first-day back-to-school, and my birthday are my three reset days within the year.

Each one feels like a clean slate and a fresh start.

During each one of my fresh starts, I set new goals, then write out plans of action to meet those goals.

I also make a lot of lists.

Which category do you fall under?

New Year-New Me

Setting Goals

My notebook is already filled with my 2023 goals. My goals are broken down into each month of the year. Each bill, holiday, birthday, and graduation are written down.

Every financial responsibility for the year is written out. I schedule in larger goals, like house renovations, vacations, and/or projects around our home.

Setting goals at the beginning of the year is my first step. I don’t stop there. Next, there must be a plan of action to accomplish these goals.

Plan of Action

I write out all of my goals, then break each goal down into twelve months. I break each month down into weeks, and many things are then broken down into days. I now have a plan of action. I know what needs to be done in January all the way through December in order to meet my goals. Granted, this is a lot easier for me since I am a very list and goal-oriented person, so find out what works for you, then go after those goals.

Don’t just say you want to save money. Make a goal. Draw out your plan of action. There was a neat little way to save $500.00 on Pinterest the other day.

These goals and plans of action processes are applied to all areas of my life. I even apply it to my strategic shopping goals. I pay close attention to each month’s specific deals. In January I stock up on canned soups and all kinds of snack foods, and in May I stock up on condiments. I add these shopping goals to my financial goals and plan of action.

Candy had been a good shopper for years. With 12 children, it didn’t take her long to realize that if she wasn’t a smart shopper, she wouldn’t make it very far! She wanted to continue to be a stay-at-home mother, but she wondered if this was going to be possible. Then, she found out about coupons. Coupons have literally changed her life!
