Fix It! Grammar Nose Tree Level One.Student Book
Fix It! Grammar is a 4-day a week course. Each day has its own lesson program.
It is a 30-week program. Each lesson is expected to take no longer than 15 minutes.
Fix it grammar believes in a little dab will do you philosophy.
Each lesson follows a 5-step program.
#1 – Learn it! – Each week there is a grammar-related vocabulary word and/or concept for your student to learn.
For example: Vocabulary – Homophone
A homophone is a word that sounds like another word but is spelled differently and has a different meaning.
Homophone would be the word the student needs to learn that week.
#2 – Read it! – This part requires the student to read the little passage provided in the lesson.
For example: the princess, who now owned the three magic gifts, crept two the palace
The student is expected to read this sentence.
Next, the student is to put the boldface word into their vocabulary list notebook and use a dictionary to find and write out the definition.
#3 – Mark it! This is where the student labels the parts of speech specifically asked about in the lesson. They also use editing marks to locate problems in the sentence, such as a lack of punctuation or capitalization, etc.
For example: For example: the princess, who now owned the three magic gifts, crept two the palace
The student is told to find and mark 3 articles, 3 nouns, 2 adjectives, 1 prepositional phrase, 1 who/which clause, and 1 subject-verb pairs.
#4 – Fix it! – Next, the student corrects the errors found in the sentence.
For example: For example: the princess, who now owned the three magic gifts, crept two the palace
The student is told to fix 1 capital mistake, 1 end mark mistake, and 1 homophone mistake.
#5 – Rewrite it! – Finally, your student rewrites the sentence over properly using all of the corrections mentioned above.

Fix it! Grammar Cards
My family has always enjoyed cards. We play all kinds of card games, like Rummy, Crazy Eights, Go Fish, and Uno.
Even in this virtual world, my family still uses all kinds of index cards to make our own flashcards and little posters to hang on the wall.
If your family enjoys cards as much as my family does and you’re going to love the fact that Fix It! Grammar comes with a lot of flashcards already prepared for you.

How We Used Fix It! Grammar in Our Homeschool
It literally took minutes to complete a lesson each day. No lesson took more than 15 minutes and most lessons only took 5 minutes.
Sarah was able to do these lessons on her own, but we decided to do some of them together.
Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) actually encourages parents to have students complete lessons on their own, then use the teacher’s guide themselves to figure out why they got certain questions wrong.
Fix It! Grammar Gets a Big Thumbs Up
The Foote Family Homeschool gives Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) Fix It! Grammar a huge thumbs up!
I literally wish I had Fix It! Grammar when I started homeschooling back in 1993!
