Come experience the national parks! On six days in 2024, all National Park Service sites that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone. Mark your calendar for these entrance fee–free day, September 28, 2024.

How to Gain Free Entrance on September 28th
Join us for National Public Lands Day on September 28, 2024!
Since 1994, this annual event on the fourth Saturday of September has been the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort.
Last year, over 130 national parks hosted events with 7,600 volunteers donating an impressive 41,500 hours of service.
All national parks that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone on September 28, 2024 in celebration of National Public Lands Day.
All you need to do is show up at a National Park, and the admission fee will be automatically waived.
What to Bring
Here’s a list of some things you should consider bringing along on your trip to the National Parks:
- water
- healthy camp food and snacks
- a first-aid kit
- comfortable shoes
- sunglasses
- a hat
- sunscreen
- gloves
- bug spray
- a map
- emergency numbers
- a whistle in case family members get lost or separated
- charged cellphones
- a change of clothing
- a flashlight
- a camera
- a journal and pen/pencil
- a backpack to carry everything easily
