Lavigne’s IGA of Potsdam
Hey, local friends, have you checked out our local Lavigne’s IGA of Potsdam and their new curbside pickup?
I have always said that our little IGA is the BEST KEPT SECRET in the NORTH COUNTRY!
Kirk and Todd LaVigne are not new to the supermarket business. Their dad started running one way back in 1980 when these boys were just small. They have literally grown up in the business. They were thrilled to partner together as brothers, and go into the family business.
As you can imagine, things haven’t been easy for our little hometown supermarket over the years. Major corporations, like Walmart tend to overshadow our Mom & Pop stores.
Lavigne’s IGA of Potsdam has Curbside Pickup
During this worldwide pandemic, I hope our communities will rally around small businesses, like our local IGA stores.
IGA is taking this virus, and the health of our community seriously. They want to offer the best service to their customers, so they have started curbside pickup.
Todd and Kirk Lavigne, the owners of the IGA stores in the North Country, want you to know that they, along with their staff, are doing the best they can to ensure that you and your family are provided with all the essentials during this time of crisis.
You can easily get the curbside service by calling them in Potsdam at 315-274-0355. A friendly voice will take your order, and let you know when you can drive over to pick up your order. You won’t even have to leave your car! A store employee will load your groceries for you.
You will be given the option of paying over the phone with your debit or credit card. You can also choose to wait and pay with your card during pick up.
IGA is still accepting manufacturer coupons and EBT during this time, and will be happy to have you use them during curbside pick up.
You will also, of course, be given the option of simply paying with cash. If you tell them on the phone how much cash you will be paying with, they will even have your correct change counted out for you!
At this point, IGA is able to fulfill orders quite quickly. They have been processing their customers orders within a few hours. Every order has been filled within the same day.
This was a shock to me, since both Instacart and Walmart are taking up to five days to fulfill their orders!
If you have a cellphone, just call the store back when you arrive to pick up your order.
If you, or a someone you know wants to do curbside pick up, but don’t own a cellphone, just call the store when you are leaving your house and let them know you are on your way.
If you are located closer to one of their other hometown stores, just call and visit the store nearest you.
Corona Virus Precautions
I was excited to hear how our community is pulling together. Todd told me that some local women have been working hard sewing masks, and provided the IGA staff with many of them.
The staff has been encouraged to wear gloves and masks during work hours.
Weekly Sales
Make sure you check out their weekly sales in order to secure the best deals of the week.
Lavigne’s IGA of Potsdam runs weekly sales from Thursday to Friday. New sales and deals always come out on Fridays.
The Lavigne brothers want the local community to know that they are doing everything they can to keep the stores stocked and the customers provided with everything they need.
They are asking that everyone be aware that many things are simply out of their hands right now.
Unfortunately, the stores regular ads are not able to be printed at this time. A smaller version of the ad is now available in the store only. No newspaper will be carrying the IGA ads during this crisis. The ad will be posted on their Facebook page each week though.
Also, please understand that there may be products being advertised that just simply aren’t available. This is out of Kirk and Todd’s hands. They encourage you to call the store to check before making the trip into town if you are looking for something specific that may have been advertised in their weekly ad.
They are also asking that customers remember that if there is any lack of products, it is not any of the staff’s fault. Please be kind to these essential workers as they are on the front lines of this pandemic. They are trying to make sure you are provided with the things you need, as much as possible.
Kirk and Todd will be more than happy to speak to you about any issues that you may have during this time, but again, they are asking you to be kind to their employees.
I, definitely, second that! Always treat the store employees well!
What is in Stock
The IGA stores have not had any issues staying stocked up on essential products, like meat, produce, and dairy items.
They are, however, having a more difficult time keeping the grocery aisles stocked with things like, paper products, cleaning supplies, and regular grocery items, including some canned goods and Hellmann’s, and other products you would typically find in the center aisles of the store.
The store still has plenty of groceries, but there may be some gaps that they want you aware of ahead of time.
New Hours
The store has changed their hours during this chaotic time. They want to be available to serve everyone, while still encouraging the people to come in, get their necessities, then get safely back home as quickly as possible.
The new hours are:
8:00 A.M. through 6:00 P.M. Monday through Saturday
9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. Sunday
Still Accepting Manufacturer Coupons
They gladly accept manufacturer coupons, and will double any coupon valued at 99 cents or less, unless it is otherwise stated on the coupon.
Daily Lunch Specials
Don’t forget to check out their Daily Lunch Specials! They offer a fresh, new lunch special seven days a week. You can find the lunch special posted daily over on their Facebook page.
Thank you, Todd and Kirk Lavigne
I would like to personally thank Todd and Kirk Lavigne for serving our community over the years.
C’mon, friends, let’s thank them by supporting this small hometown business. Go put in an order and let me know how much you like the curbside pick up! Tell them Candy Foote from the Candy Foote Club sent you!
(I am not affiliated with the IGA stores in any way. I just love our hometown store!)

Why are the cashiers so mad looking all the time they need to lighten up a little and smile. Also this would be a good time to fix the baby straps on their shopping carts.
Darlene, I am sorry if the cashiers haven’t been friendly to you. I try to remember that cashiers have life outside of their jobs, just like the rest of us. Life is hard and we all have a lot to deal with. On top of that, everyone is stressed to the max right now. I have noticed that everyone, employees and shoppers alike everywhere I go, are very serious and intense right now. It is a rather eerie feeling whenever we do have to go into a store. I suggest that as customers we take the time to smile and be kind to the workers. I have always encouraged that even when there wasn’t a pandemic. Smiles are contagious.
As far as the baby straps, perhaps kindly bringing it to managements attention would help.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment for me!
