Things to Buy in the Month of May
Here are a few things you may want to buy in the month of May while they are on sale.
Gardening
May is here and that means our local greenhouses are opening.
May is the month to buy flowers, trees, shrubs, berry plants, vegetable plants, etc.
Visit one of our local greenhouses for all of your gardening plants this year.

Summertime Clothing
With the change of the season comes a change in apparel.
Yes, you will find some deals on springtime apparel, but watch for all of the summertime clothing deals!
Stores stay one season ahead, so May is the time to take advantage of all of the new summer apparel.
National Hamburger Day
May 28th is National Hamburger Day this year. Watch for super good deals on hamburgers to celebrate this day.
BBQ Groceries
The weather is improving, and with that everyone is ready to pull out the BBQ grill. The grocery stores realize this, so they are marking down all of the typical BBQ foods.
Make sure you stock up on these items to get you through the summer.
Grills
How are you going to cook up all of that BBQ food without a grill? BBQ grills are on sale this month, so make sure you get yours!
Just be aware the absolute best deals on BBQ grills will be found at the end of the season. Even still, there are deals to be found in May!
Memorial Day
Memorial Day is one of America’s largest BBQ days, which is another reason we will see all of those BBQ groceries marked down.
It is also the unofficial start to summer, which is why it is one of America’s largest camping seasons.
Camping/Outdoor
Everyone is ready for winter to be over! The stores are ready to help you out by offering deep discounts on things like tents, boats, outdoor chairs, and fishing poles.
Major Appliances
Memorial Day is one of America’s top sales holidays. Watch for amazing deals on large appliances, especially refrigerators.
Athletic Clothing and Footwear
Everyone is happy to finally be done with winter! People are heading outside to enjoy the nice weather that they have waited so long for.
That is why stores are offering great deals on athletic clothing and footwear this month.
Cookware & Home Goods
May is a great month to find deals on all kinds of small appliances, like blenders, mixers, toasters, and coffee makers.
You will also see deals on pots & pans, kettles, and everyday dishes, like plates, bowls, and so on.
Silverware and sharp knives are also marked down this month.
Vacuum Cleaners
May doesn’t only bring May flowers, it also brings great prices on vacuum cleaners!
Need a new vacuum? May is the month to get it!
Spring Cleaning Supplies
Springtime always equals spring cleaning.
I love all of the deals on cleaning supplies, including Lysol spray, Lysol wipes, bleach, and more.
Make sure you email the companies who make your favorite cleaning supplies and ask them to mail you some coupons!
Matching up coupons with the sales is the proper way to use a coupon!
Paper Products
May is a great month to find deals on paper products. We normally see sales of toilet paper, paper towels, disposable dishes, baggies, tin foil, and so on.
Watch for upcoming sales and don’t wait too long to get into the stores.
You can also look for deals online at Walmart.com and Amazon.
Mattresses
May comes with a three-day weekend, thanks to Memorial Day. And, could there possibly be a three-day weekend without a mattress sale? I think not!
Stores love to put mattresses on sale over three-day weekends, so make sure you wait until then to get your new mattress.
Produce
Eating produce in season is healthy for both your body and your wallet.
Here is a list of produce you can find in season in America during May:
apples, apricots, avocados, asparagus, bananas, broccoli, carrots, celery, cabbage, collard greens, garlic, kale, kiwi, lemons, limes, lettuce, mushrooms, onions, peas, pineapple, radishes, rhubarb, strawberries, Swiss chard, spinach, and turnips
