Big Lots -10 Surprising Things I Buy

Do you have a Big Lots in your area?

I love this store!

You can pick up some garlic powder, a new mouse for your computer, and a brand-new mattress all in one stop!

Here are 10 surprising things I buy at Big Lots!

10 Surprising Things I Buy at Big Lots

Herbs and Spices from Big Lot's

1. Herbs and Spices

I like to keep some specific herbs stocked in my pantry. Chili powder, black pepper, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, cinnamon, ginger, and turmeric can also be found in my kitchen.

Big Lot’s sells good size bottles of these herbs for only $1.00.

(Most of the bottles I buy are 4 ounces.)

Many times I wait until I get a $5.00 off $15.00 Big Lot’s Reward, then get 15 containers of herbs for just $10.00!

I take my herbs home and store them in canning jars.

2. Sea salt

I started out buying my Himalayan pink sea salt at Amazon. It wasn’t cheap, but I love my pink salt.

One day, I jumped for joy when I found one-pound packages of the same salt at my local Dollar Tree!

I may have done a happy dance right there in the store!

More recently, a friend of mine point out five-pound containers of Himalayan pink sea salt for only $4.00 at Big Lots.

That’s cheaper than the Dollar Tree!

Coconut oil from Big Lot's

3. Coconut oil

I remember the time I decided I needed to add coconut oil into my family’s diet.

That excitement died out quickly when I saw the price tag!

At an average of about $30.00 a gallon, coconut oil quickly came off our shopping list.

Big Lots came to our rescue again.

Shockingly, Big Lot’s sells their gallons of coconut oil for only $12.00!

Clearance food from Big Lot's

4. Clearance food

My kids love snack foods, but I am not keen on spending tons of money on it. That’s why I always make a bee line straight to the clearance food section.

I find amazing deals on these shelves.

One day, I found a lot of Oreo cookies marked down.

That made for some pretty happy kids!

I like to use my $5.00 off $15.00 purchase Big Rewards coupon for even greater savings.

Of course, always check the expiration dates when buying clearance food.

Clearance items at Big Lot's

5. Other Clearance items

Make sure you watch your local Big Lots for clearance deals.

Yes, they do have specific clearance shelves, but honestly, I have rarely found any spectacular savings there.

The clearance I am always on the look out for are the end-of-season sales.

These types of clearance sales can see deep discounts as low as 90% off!

My favorite time to shop the Big Lot’s clearance sales is in early spring.

I typically pay 25 cents for winter hats and 80 cents for pajamas.

I get super cheap slippers, socks, scarves, and more.

These items go straight into the gift closet!

6. Mattresses at Big Lots

Their mattresses are kept at a low discount price that makes buying one affordable. If you are planning on buying a mattresses anytime soon, make sure you check to see if they are offering any coupons.

They love to offer free gifts to their members!

They make it super easy for members to get their free items too.

Each time they offer a free item, it is automatically added to your account.

All you need to do is show up at the store, pick up your free item, and head to the checkout.

The item will ring up at regular price, but will quickly go down to $0.00 once your membership information is put into the computer.

Candy had been a good shopper for years. With 12 children, it didn’t take her long to realize that if she wasn’t a smart shopper, she wouldn’t make it very far! She wanted to continue to be a stay-at-home mother, but she wondered if this was going to be possible. Then, she found out about coupons. Coupons have literally changed her life!
