15 Money Saving Coupon Policies

Do you know your stores’ money-saving coupon policies?

Many cashiers and even managers don’t understand their stores’ coupon policies, so it is vital that you do.

Click on the store name below and read their money-saving coupon policies.

Print them out, or keep them handy on your Smartphone.

If a question concerning your couponing arises at a store, kindly and politely try to understand why things aren’t working.

Don’t be afraid to ask for a manager, but be aware that the manager has the final say no matter what the policy says.

Treat the workers well.

I find it easier to contact corporate rather than argue with the store workers.

It is a failure on the corporate part if their workers are not sure of their policies.

As a Strategic Shopper who uses coupons, you are representing all of us, so stay calm.

15 Coupon Policies:

ALDI

Aldi

Aldi doesn’t accept manufacturer coupons and they rarely offer a store coupon.

They have been known to offer a store coupon similar to $5.00 off a $30.00 purchase, but these normally coincide with a new store opening.

They do, however, offer an awesome twice as nice guarantee on all of their products.

Their policy states if you are not fully satisfied with a product you purchased at one of their stores, they will replace the product and refund your money!

Big Lot’s

Big Lot’s

Big Lot’s does not accept manufacturer coupons, but they do offer a rewards program called BIG REWARDS.

You can earn a $5.00 off coupons by purchasing a qualifying amount.

You can earn a $10.00 off coupon by purchasing a certain amount of furniture.

They offer VIP shopping discount days, give birthday discounts & deals, and encourage you to spend more in order to get more discounts.

BJ’s Warehouse

BJ’s Warehouse

I love BJ’s coupon policy. They allow one store coupon and multiple manufacturer coupons on most of their multi-packs.

Most stores only allow one of each on the package, not the products!

If you are self-controlled enough to only go into BJ’s to get these deals, then you can save a lot of money by using their coupon policy to your advantage!

Dollar General

Dollar General

My favorite thing about the Dollar General coupon policy is that they must deduct their store coupons before deducting any manufacturer coupons.

For example, when using their $5.00 off $25.00 coupon the $5.00 is deducted first, then all of the other coupons.

This has the potential of bringing your total down to just taxes if you have the right coupons!

Many other stores would deduct the $5.00 if your total was at $25.00 after all other coupons, so you would never pay more than $20.00, plus tax!

They also offer the DG Rewards program.

This program allows you to earn coupons.

For example, they might offer you a $2.00 reward when you buy $8.00 worth of Betty Crocker products.

This will be rewarded to you as a coupon for $2.00 off a $2.01 purchase. You will find it at the bottom of your receipt. It can be used immediately on your next purchase.

Dollar Tree

Dollar Tree

Just the fact that Dollar Tree even accepts coupons is exciting!

I have bought many things in Dollar Tree and only paid the tax.

The trick to shopping there is to make sure your coupon matches up exactly with the product.

Dollar Tree tends to sell smaller versions of products, so always check the size requirements on both the item and the coupon.

Their products often use the same color theme as the brand names, so pay close attention to that too.

They limit internet coupons to two per day per customer, but there’s no limit on regular paper coupons.

Family Dollar

Family Dollar

Using the Family Dollar coupons is a great way to save on everyday necessities.

They continually offer store coupons, like $3.00 off $15.00 and $5.00 off $25.00.

They have a lot of digital coupons that you can access via their website and app.

Make sure you sign up for their Smart Coupons program.

Their digital coupons work like the Dollar General coupons work in that they will start by deducting the $5.00 off $25.00 first, then the other coupons will come off.

However, it doesn’t work that way with paper coupons. The paper coupons will only come off until your total hits the $25.00 threshold.

That means if your paper coupon is $2.00 off, then you would need to spend $27.00 before the $5.00 would come off.

But, if your $2.00 coupon is a Family Dollar digital one, then you could spend $25.00 and get both the $2.00 and $5.00 off.

Hope that isn’t as clear as mud!

Price Chopper

I love to shop Price Chopper for their weekly deals.

However, all of them do accept online and manufacturer coupons.

Walgreens

Walgreens

Walgreens is an awesome store to shop!

Walgreens is in the process of just starting a new savings program in November 2020 called, myWalgreens.

They offer both digital and paper coupons in a variety of ways.

You can read the Walgreens full coupon policy over here.

Walmart

Walmart

My favorite part about Walmart’s coupon policy is the fact that they pay overage!

Overage is a couponer’s favorite word. It means if an item costs less than the amount of the coupon, then the customer is paid the difference.

Yay!

For example: If an item costs 50 cents and you have a $1.00 off coupon, then you would get the item for free, plus be paid 50 cents!
