How to Dehydrate Fresh Sage

I love growing and dehydrating my own herbs.

Sage is at the top of my favorites list.

My daughter, Christina’s puppy, Betty, had to join me in picking some fresh sage.

Of course, the first step is to get out into the garden and pick your fresh sage.

Pick the Sage

The first step is obvious.

Get out into your garden, breathe in the fresh air, and take a moment to smell the fresh sage.

Pick some nice-looking sage leaves.

Have a cute puppy help you if you can find one.

Wash the Sage

Remove the stems and wash the sage leaves thoroughly.

Place in Dehydrator

Place the sage leaves onto trays and put them into the dehydrator.

I use the Excalibur dehydrator.

Take Off When Completely Dried

I am not really sure how long it will take until your sage leaves are dried.

When they are crunchy, then they are done.

You don’t want any moisture in them.

Seal Up the Dehydrated Sage

Seal up the dehydrated sage in a Mason jar, in a vacuum-sealed bag, or in a Mylar bag.

You will just want to make sure to keep the sage completely dry.
