It is said that if you know the vocabulary of a subject, then you already know over 90% of that particular topic.

Over 90%!

That makes sense.

If you fully understand the terms that are being used on a topic, then it makes sense that you will be able to understand what is being taught.

If you don’t understand the words, then you are at a disadvantage. Well, at the very least, it will take you longer to learn the subject since you will need to look up and learn each word you don’t understand.

Vocabulary Virtuoso knows this!

They are here to help give your students the advantage when it comes to learning vocabulary.

A big thank you to The Critical Thinking Co.™ for giving my daughter, Sarah, and me an opportunity to do a review on your Check out what other homeschooling families are saying about The Critical Thinking Co.™ Vocabulary Virtuoso: Mastering Middle School Vocabulary workbook.

What exactly does Vocabulary Virtuoso mean?

Vocabulary just simply means words. Sometimes vocabulary words are called terms, but it is still just talking about words.

We all need to understand the words of a topic. Those words are your vocabulary words.

The Vocabulary Virtuoso Workbook

The Critical Thinking Co.™ has published Vocabulary Virtuoso: Mastering Middle School Vocabulary.

Vocabulary Virtuoso is aimed at grades six through eight.

The workbook contains fifteen chapters.

Each chapter contains twelve new vocabulary words to learn.

There are six lessons per chapter.

These lessons give the student a lot of exercises using the vocabulary word list in sentences.

Your student is able to use these new vocabulary words within some creative writing projects.

While completing each lesson, your student will also be learning about synonyms, phrases, idioms, alliteration, fallacies in reasoning, mythology, journalistic writing, foreign language through words and phrases, etc.

Sarah loved it when the Vocabulary Virtuoso workbook arrived in the mail for us to do a TOS Review Crew review.

She really liked the beautifully illustrated cover of the book.

I was worried that she would immediately stop liking the book when she opened it up and saw that it was filled with a lot of vocabulary words.

I was wrong.

She was up for the challenge and wanted to jump right into learning.

Sarah and I decided not to rush through this book.

In our homeschool, we are more concerned about learning what is in a book rather than just completing a book for the sake of completing it.

We decided since there are fifteen chapters, we could take two weeks to complete one chapter.

Sarah read through each new vocabulary word, then wrote each word out into a separate notebook.

She read the definitions provided in the workbook, but also looked them up for herself in her dictionary.

She also looked each word up on Google.

Lessons one and two gave Sarah the opportunity to choose from a group of words to complete sentences properly.

Lesson three was a silly, fictional story that needed the blanks to be filled in by Sarah. She was given a group of vocabulary words to choose from in order to complete the story.

Overall, Sarah and I really enjoyed learning new vocabulary words with The Critical Thinking Co.™ Vocabulary Virtuoso: Mastering Middle School Vocabulary.

We give it a big thumb’s up!

Candy had been a good shopper for years. With 12 children, it didn’t take her long to realize that if she wasn’t a smart shopper, she wouldn’t make it very far! She wanted to continue to be a stay-at-home mother, but she wondered if this was going to be possible. Then, she found out about coupons. Coupons have literally changed her life!
