Veteran Homeschoolers

My family started homeschooling back in 1993.

Oh, what I would have given to have had such a thorough curriculum, like SchoolhouseTeachers.com back then!

The creators of The Old Schoolhouse magazine are the same people who created SchoolhouseTeachers.com.

Paul and Gena Suarez have been household names in the homeschooling community for years.

They not only create amazing and relevant content for homeschooling families today, but they were also right there in the trenches with us.

They homeschooled all of their own children.

A Full Curriculum

The SchoolhouseTeachers.com online school program was launched back in 2012.

They now have well over 7,000 members, and offer well over 400 courses!

They offer everything you need to teach your children at home.

There are no contracts, no hidden costs, no textbooks or workbooks to purchase, and you are locked in at these low prices!

This is excellent news for anyone who is a little skeptical, but especially exciting if you have more than one child.

These prices include a one-time price for your entire family!

It’s no wonder so many homeschooling families are signing up for this awesome online program.

You can imagine how someone like me feels about this deal. (12 kids!)

What a difference from so many other online courses that charge per child!

My Family’s Main Online School

My family’s main online school has been Schoolhouse Teachers for years. There is truly something for the entire family.

I have loved having everything in one spot.

I know that my family will have all of their basics, plus so much more covered under this program.

I can’t say how much I have enjoyed sitting back while a SchoolhouseTeacher has taught my children things like ancient history and geology.

Many nights, we would simply turn on one of the amazing documentaries offered, and enjoy a family movie night.

( I really love all of the movies available!)

Our family has also loved the musical instrument lessons, especially violin, guitar, and recorder.

Frequently Asked Questions

Maybe by now you are thinking all of this sounds great but you still have so many questions.

SchoolhouseTeachers.com knows how overwhelming the thought of educating your children can be.

That is why they have answered some of the most popular questions people tend to ask when considering homeschooling.

What is Homeschooling? SchoolhouseTeachers.com

What is Homeschooling?

When I started 10th grade in public school many years ago, a new girl started attending our school.

I asked her where she used to go to school and she responded with, Homeschool.

As a little side note, you must know that I attended BOCES classes for computer …. and since the BOCES students came from different towns, we called our own school home school.

With this in mind, I said, But where is home school?

She laughed and said, At home!

This new friend became instrumental in my homeschooling my own children.

Today everyone knows somebody who is homeschooling, but back in the 80’s and 90’s it wasn’t as popular.

You probably know families who are homeschooling, but you may still have quite a few questions.

Schoolhouseteachers has the answers.

They explain what homeschooling actually is, and how you can do it too.

Am I qualified to teach my children?

Yes, you are qualified to teach your own children.

Keep in mind, that doesn’t mean you have to excel at every subject.

We didn’t have Schoolhouse Teachers, or any other type of online programs back when we started homeschooling.

Actually, not very many people even owned a computer back when we started!

When my oldest son started Algebra classes, I ordered VHS tapes and a VCR to teach him.

As a homeschooling mother, I seek out different ways for my children to learn what they need to learn.

I sure wish we had Schoolhouse Teachers back then!

How much will it cost?

When we started homeschooling in 1993, I only had small children, but I bought a full-curriculum for grades K-12.

I purchased all of the textbooks, workbooks, teacher’s guides, and accessories.

Proudly, I stacked everything into my homeschool library convinced I was set for a life of homeschooling.

It worked perfectly with my first two children.

That was it. Two children.

I have twelve!

That is when I learned people have different approaches to learning, and my boxed curriculum didn’t fit everyone in our family.

One of the things that my family really enjoys about this program is the choices it gives.

Back in the day, when my children would want to choose a variety of lesson plans, we simply couldn’t afford to buy all of them.

They give us access to every grade level and a huge variety of ways to learn.

Everything is included in one price for the entire family.

Now, if I start a certain curriculum or subject with a child and later find out it just doesn’t suit them, I simply switch to something new at no extra charge.

I won’t tell you how many thousands of dollars I paid for that full-curriculum back when we started!

K-12 Ultimate Membership per month per family

One family = One Price

With Schoolhouseteachers, all of these courses are right at our fingertips, and already paid for!

I sit down with each child individually and put together a curriculum that works for them personally.

If we get into a course and find out that it doesn’t actually fit with the student, we just switch courses.

Best of all, there are no extra costs to worry about!

What are the different approaches to homeschooling?

Schoolhouse Teachers also takes time to explain the different homeschooling approaches.

There are many different approaches and styles to homeschooling.

Some of which include:

Charlotte Mason

Classical

Delight Directed

Eclectic

The Principle Approach

Traditional Textbooks

Unit Studies

Unschooling

Schoolhouse Teachers explains each of these approaches to help you find what works best for your family.

We have used many of these approaches over the years.

How do I choose curriculum?

SchoolhouseTeachers.com

Unlike when I started homeschooling, you don’t need to run all over looking for things to piece together for a curriculum.

Schoolhouse Teachers has everything available to you, literally, right at your fingertips.

There is a convenient SCOPE and SEQUENCE included to help you decide which courses work at which grade levels.

You are not stuck in these grade levels though.

The creators of SchoolhouseTeachers.com understand that many homeschooling families don’t lock themselves into grade levels.

Many of us have students all over the grade level spectrum.

I can’t tell you how many times have heard many of my own children say something like, “I am in 10th grade, but I am doing 9th-grade math, 12th-grade history, and 11th-grade science!”

Every account comes with full access to ALL GRADE LEVELS at all times.

You will have 24/7 access to every single course available on the website.

If you prefer, there are virtual full curriculum boxes put together for each grade level.

The guess work is taken out and each grade is put together for you.

Although, these are called boxed curriculum, please be aware, everything is still online.

It also includes a curriculum guide, weekly checklists, daily checklists, and direct links to the online courses.

Do I need special equipment?

There is no special equipment needed.

Schoolhouse Teachers is accessible on your desktop computer, laptop, tablet, and even your Smartphone!

How do I get started?

There are a few steps you need to take before legally homeschooling in your state, but Schoolhouse Teachers makes sure you completely understand the things you need to do.

Don’t worry!

In most states, getting started is as simple as notifying your local superintendent in writing of your intent to homeschool.

You can read all about it on the Schoolhouse Teachers website.

candyfoote

Candy had been a good shopper for years. With 12 children, it didn’t take her long to realize that if she wasn’t a smart shopper, she wouldn’t make it very far! She wanted to continue to be a stay-at-home mother, but she wondered if this was going to be possible. Then, she found out about coupons. Coupons have literally changed her life!
