Everyone needs to save as much as possible, but did you know there are many ways to save more with food stamps (EBT benefits)?

Garden Seeds and Plants

My family loves to garden. Every year, for as many years as I can remember, my children have all participated in growing a family garden. They also plant their own personal gardens. They love these gardens!

Some of our favorite things to grow are tomatoes, sweet bell peppers, onions, cucumbers, carrots, potatoes, radishes, herbs, berries, rhubarb, lettuce, beans, peas, watermelon, and edible flowers. Many times we have grown cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower, but the battle against the bugs is real!

Stores that Accept SNAP for Garden Seeds and Plants

Walmart sells a good variety of garden seeds and plants at a decent price, and they happily accept SNAP to pay for them.

Other stores that are accepting SNAP to pay for seeds and plants include places like:

Walmart

Target

Price Chopper

Dollar Tree

And any other store that already accepts SNAP.

Places like Lowe’s, Home Depot, and your local hardware stores are typically not set up to accept SNAP, so you wouldn’t be able to buy them in these stores.

Farmers’ Markets

Farmers’ markets are a great place to use your SNAP cards. My kids love to go to the Farmers’ market. It is like a mini field trip! We love to walk around checking out the different vendors. Many times there are different events going on at our local market, like musicians, bubbles in the park for the children, and a variety of other fun things to do.

My children love to be able to pick out their own treats of fresh fruits and veggies!

Be aware that some Farmers’ Markets have a special table set up for you to swipe your SNAP card in order to get tokens to use at the individual farmer’s stands.

Also, be aware that EBT cards are not accepted at roadside stands.

Coupons and Digital Rebates

Using coupons and digital rebates are always a good plan, but they become vital when you are on a food stamps’ budget!

Drug Store Games

Drug stores, like Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS, and even Kinney Drugs offer points back programs that are basically store money.

Each week, these stores have sale items that offer store rewards when purchased. In turn, you can use these rewards to buy practically anything in the store. There are, of course, a few normal exceptions.

Exceptions

Most store reward programs will not allow you to purchase tobacco, alcohol, lottery tickets, and many cases dairy items with your rewards.

EBT Benefits and Drug Store Rewards

Happily, these stores all accept SNAP! Strategic shopping involves using sale items, coupons, rewards, rebates, and your EBT benefits to get ultimate deals!

After you pay for your grocery items with EBT benefits, you will be able to use the rewards to buy your non-food items. Be sure to still match up sales, coupons, rewards, and rebates for the best deals.

Amazon Accepts Food Stamps

Amazon accepts EBT benefits now. There is an option at check out to pay for your grocery item order with your SNAP card.

(Not available in every state.)

Amazon Prime 

Amazon offers a deep discount on Amazon Prime if you are a SNAP card holder.

Online Stores That Accept SNAP

A few online stores are now accepting SNAP.

Walmart’s online stores accept EBT (SNAP) cards as a payment method.

Some Target stores accept SNAP as a method of payment on their online stores.

I suggest only ordering from online stores with your SNAP benefits only if you are finding amazing deals. The point is to think outside of the box. Don’t be so sure that you can’t use your SNAP benefits on those great deals you are finding. Check into it. See if they accept food stamp payments.

Make it a goal to stretch those food stamps. Do your research and save more with food stamps (SNAP)!
