New Year = Fresh Start

New Year = Fresh Start

If you spend any amount of time on social media today you will realize there are two kinds of people. There are those who hate to hear about the New Year – New Me type people. They don’t want to hear about your New Year’s resolutions or your goals and steps to reach those goals. Not me. New Year’s Day, and the first-day back-to-school, which is a new year for school are some of my favorite days. I really love my birthday, which is my own personal celebration of a new year.

I definitely fit into the goals oriented group. I love fresh starts, goals, steps to reach those goals, and lists. Yes, lots of lists.

Goals + Plan of Action

My notebook is already filled with my 2019 goals. My goals are broken down into each month of the year. Each bill, holiday, birthday, and graduation are written down.

Every financial responsibility for the year is written out. I schedule in larger goals, like house renovations, vacations, and/or projects around our home.

Setting goals at the beginning of the year is my first step. I don’t stop there. Next, there must be a plan of action to accomplish these goals.

I write out all of my goals, then break each goal down into twelve months. I break each month down into weeks, and many things are then broken down into days. I now have a plan of action. I know what needs to be done in January all the way through December in order to meet my goals. Granted, this is a lot easier for me since I am a very list and goal oriented person, so find out what works for you, then go after those goals.

Don’t just say you want to save money. Make a goal. Draw out your plan of action. There was a neat little way to save $500.00 on Pinterest the other day.

These goals and plans of action process are applied to all areas of my life. I even apply it to my strategic shopping goals. I pay close attention to each month’s specific deals. In January I stock up on canned soups and all kinds of snack foods, and in May I stock up on condiments. I add these shopping goals to my financial goals and plan of action.

Make a fresh start with the beginning of this new year. Write out your financial goals. Make a step-by-step plan of action. Accomplish your goals and live a frugal lifestyle.

Candy had been a good shopper for years. With 12 children, it didn’t take her long to realize that if she wasn’t a smart shopper, she wouldn’t make it very far! She wanted to continue to be a stay-at-home mother, but she wondered if this was going to be possible. Then, she found out about coupons. Coupons have literally changed her life!
